Monai offers a modern form of bone divination that is informed by ancestral energy and the mundane. Also known as osteomancy, bone reading is one of the most ancient forms of divination practiced by many ancient African, Asian, and Indigenous civilizations. Monai’s practice involves utilizing animal bones that are ethically sourced that died of natural causes as well as objects known as “curios,” like buttons, crystals, and objects found in nature. Monai throws the bones, they land in a certain arrangement, and with the influence of the ancestors and spirit guides, Monai interprets what their seeing. They share the challenge and/or the request that the ancestors are making or actions to take. Monai is an energy feeler, Afro-futurist, and devoted explorer of curiosity. Grounded in the belief that reflection, healing, and divination can lead to new and liberated ways of existence.
